CFP: Performing Wagner, MLA Seattle, 5-8 Jan 2012
The Discussion Group on Opera as a Literary and Dramatic Form will sponsor a session at the 2012 convention of the Modern Language Association on the topic “Performing Wagner.” We invite submissions from musicologists, scholars of literature and drama, as well as from those experienced in production and stagecraft.
Why Wagner now? Inspired by the recent explosion of Ring productions, we welcome papers on practical stagecraft, video, technology, post-human or populist approaches, vocality, and new philosophical/political perspectives.
