CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Proposals for papers and performances are invited for Getting Nowhere, a Festival-Conference celebrating the centenary of John Cage. The conference takes place at the University of York (UK) from 14 to 17 November 2012; for a preliminary schedule of events, visit www.gettingnowhere.org
Proposals for 20-minute papers should include a 300-word abstract and the presenter’s name and institutional affiliation, if any. Performances must be suitable for unconventional spaces–see the website for details–and should be entirely self-sufficient, apart from standard large instruments such as percussion and piano. Please include on a single page a brief biography of the performer(s) and a description of the work that includes time length and preferred venue. Submit proposals as Word or pdf files before 1 August 2012 to James Cave (jwc514 at york.ac.uk). Decisions will be made during August and participants will be notified on September 3.
